Rules of thumb for ordering ready mix concrete - 1. Call Block Ready Mix Group and place your order, a couple of days notice is recommended. Last minute calls for concrete are taken as time allows. Be prepared to provide your name, address and phone number. Figure the concrete needed for your job with the calculator below or call (563) 884-4117 for dispatch assistance, they'd be glad to help. 2. Confirm your order the day before the pour. When firming orders make sure you know what associated products (like fiber or chloride accelerator) you need or extra products (like expansion joint) for your job. Also provide information on slump, mixer spacing and directions to the job if they will help us locate your site. 3. Keep the delivery site clear of underground, on the ground and overhead hazards. The mixer trucks need room to maneuver. Please maintain a suitable roadway to the point of delivery as we are not responsible for property damage beyond the curb line. 4. Every job site must have a proper location or receptacle for the mixer truck driver to wash down the mixer and chutes after the pour is complete. If you do not have an environmentally responsible location or receptacle we reserve the right to add an additional charge for mixer clean up. Unloading time exceeding customer requested truck spacing or 1 hour per load will be subject to an additional charge per truck. BRMG always strives to be on the job at the exact scheduled time, due due to traffic, weather and other factors out of our control, we consider deliveries 10 minutes prior or 10 minutes after the scheduled delivery time to be "on time". Reliable, on time, consistent service is our constant goal.

| Rules of thumb for caring for your concrete -
First Year Care: Concrete continues to gain strength throughout its service life. Early in this life, special care must be taken by the owner to enable strength gain and to ensure the greatest long term durability possible. The following guidelines will help you get the most from your concrete investment: -Do not drive on or over new concrete for at least three days. -Do not allow drain water to undermine the slab and cause settlement cracks. -Do not allow snow or ice to accumulate on the slab during the first winter after it is placed. Snow should never be piled or plowed onto a new concrete slab. Plow or shovel snow off as soon as possible. -Do not use de-icing chemicals, such as salt or calcium chloride, on new concrete during the first winter. Traction can be provided by using sand. -Never use de-icers containing fertilizer ingredients such as ammonium sulfate or ammonium nitrate. -Protect new concrete from exposure to liquid fertilizer systems used for lawn treatment. Common Concerns: Pop-Outs: Concrete is a blend of natural material. Therefore, it may have some natural imperfections like pop-outs. Many times small rock particles that do not adhere well on the surface of concrete will find their way into the mix. This can cause small chips or “pop-outs” in the surface of the finished product. These imperfections rarely effect long-term durability. Non-Uniform Appearance: Concrete changes color as it matures. Variations of light and dark areas over the first month are normal. In fact, a darker color indicates retention of moisture which is a good sign. Eventually the color will lighten and even out. |
