Acme Materials Co. is located in Muscatine, Iowa, about 40 miles down river from Davenport, on a former island of the Mississippi River in the glacial period. This location yields one of the upper Mississippi’s richest sand and gravel deposits. As a result, Acme produces sand and gravel for many uses, including ready mix concrete, mortar and grout mixes, industrial sands and turf building products for golf courses and athletic fields. Additionally, Acme manufactures do-it-yourself concrete products sold under the Dri-Crete name or a private label for hardware stores like Menard’s. Acme also produces ready mix concrete for use in the local marketplace, which it sells both to contractors and homeowners.
